Owner Profile - Willie Atencio

La Otra Banda Ranch Owner and lead guide, Willie Atencio has lived his entire life in San Pablo, Colorado.  He has grown up fishing the family's ranch property.  Willie is not only familiar with the fishing along Ventero and Culebra Creeks but is also familiar with fishing in many other areas in the valley, including many rivers, streams, and lakes.

Willie's wife, Maria Atencio manages bookings for the ranch and prepares the streamside lunches.  They live in San Pablo where they have raised their 3 children and now help with their grandchildren.

Owner Profile - Charles "Carlos" Atencio

Carlos and his brother Ray Atencio purchased La Otra Banda Ranch in 1976 from their Uncle Robert "Bob" Atencio.  They raised cattle, potatos and barley for several years with their father, Leonides Atencio.  Carlos eventually bought out his brother Ray and has continued to work the ranch for over 40 years with his sons, Chuck, and Willie.  Carlos has lived in San Pablo with his wife Christina for most of his life, raising four children and enjoying their 12 grandchildren and a growing number of great-grandchildren and even great great-grandchildren.  Carlos is very familiar with all the local streams, rivers, and lakes.

Carlos taught drafting and mathematics in San Luis and is an accomplished artist, expert woodworker, master weaver, knife maker, expert wood carver and recognized santero.  You can see many of his works in the booking office.

Owner Profile - Charles Atencio, Jr.

Chuck grew up in San Pablo and has worked and fished La Otra Banda Ranch his entire life.  Although he lives in Denver, Colorado, he frequents La Otra Banda Ranch to work, fish and enjoy family time.  Chuck has also fished the local streams, rivers, and lakes for over 40 years.

 

Chuck has been married to Nina Atencio for nearly 30 years and enjoys their time at La Otra Banda Ranch with their two sons and nine grandchildren.
